ARTIST STATEMENT

My sculptures explore the relationship between space, time, memory, and the traces left by human existence.

I am interested in what remains when structures, experiences, and moments pass through time. History is not only preserved in monuments or archaeological remains; it can also survive as fragments, absences, spaces, and traces. These remnants become points of departure for my sculptures.

Working primarily with iron, wire, and other industrial materials, I construct minimal structures in which mass and line, weight and lightness, presence and absence exist in tension. I use space not simply as the area surrounding a sculpture, but as an active element of the work. Empty space can suggest what is missing, what has disappeared, or what remains beyond what can be seen.

My background in archaeology and restoration has shaped my attention to fragments, structures, material traces, and the passage of time. However, I do not seek to reconstruct the past. Instead, I use the idea of what remains as a way to consider the relationship between human presence and time.

Balance, suspension, repetition, and structural tension allow the works to exist between stability and collapse, permanence and disappearance. Their forms are deliberately restrained, leaving room for ambiguity and personal interpretation.

For me, sculpture begins where material becomes more than material: where a line can become a trace, an empty space can become a memory, and a fragile structure can suggest the persistence of something that is no longer there.

What remains when time passes?
